- עָקוֹשII m. (עָקַש) (crooked, crafty, ʿaḳosh, a thing believed to prevent (or absorb) rain. Snh.108b ואמרי לה ע׳ שמו Ar. (ed. עִקֵּש; Ms. F. עִיקֵּש, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 70) and some say, its name is ʿa., v. עָקוֹב; Yalk. Job 906 עקש.
